The National Repertory Orchestra Brings Annual Fundraising Event to the Screen on Saturday, August 8 at 6:00 pm, MDT

BRECKENRIDGE, CO (Friday, July 31): The National Repertory Orchestra’s (NRO) 60th Anniversary Concert Season was not what anyone expected. Despite the impacts of the current pandemic, the organization has been diligently keeping true to its mission of Changing Lives Through Music!

In just six weeks, the NRO will have completed more than 40 alumni string quartet pop-up concerts and 27 online educational events. Additionally, the group designed four lesson plans for Summit County daycares and eight programs teaching empathy and kindness through music with the Children’s Kindness Network for day camps. In the wake of the new season, the NRO’s annual fundraiser was redesigned to ensure its attendees’ safety at the forefront. Now, musicians are coming to your house through your devices.

NRO Encore will be a virtual evening of celebration, music, and community with honoree, Music Director, Carl Topilow. On Saturday, August 8, beginning at 6:00 pm, MDT, viewers can enjoy alumni performances, participate in a paddle raise and live auction, “The Secret Life of Carl Topilow,” a mini-concert, and more on the homepage at NROmusic.org or on FaceBook @NROmusic. The program will be about one hour and fifteen minutes. All proceeds benefit the National Repertory Orchestra.

Ed Greene, formerly of CBS4 and Denver’s longest-serving TV forecaster, will host. NRO Encore performers include alumni Maria and Victor Beyens, violin, Elizabeth Hainen, harp, and Thomas Steigerwald, piano. The NRO Alumni String Quartet will join the lineup with Mina Hong and Audrey Lee, violin, Edwardo Rios, viola, and Samuel Viguerie, cello.

Zan Aufderheide, auctioneer extraordinaire, will be showcasing irresistible items kindly donated by NRO supporters.  Packages include a Platte River Guided Fly Fishing Tour for Two, an Exclusive Wine Tasting Experience for Ten People at Ski Tip Lodge in Keystone, a Private Getaway in Asheville, North Carolina, Keystone Golf Packages, a Five Day – Ski, Spa and Stay in Summit County, an original Jerry Georgeff Painting celebrating the NRO’s 60th Anniversary Concert Season, and more!  Participants can pre-register for a bidder number at NROmusic.org/event/nro-encore.

Attendees will also hear from NRO CEO, Dave DePeters, Board of Trustees President, Mike Massey, Music Director, Carl Topilow, and other alumni along with Summit County locals and NRO donors.

A tribute performance by Elizabeth Hainen, harp and Dave DePeters, vibraphone, will conclude the event. The final piece will honor Janice Ward Parrish, author of “Blue Jeans to Breckenridge”, former President of the Friends of the NRO and Board of Trustees member.
